Racing, training, and a lot ahead!

It’s been a busy few weeks with racing, training, and a lot ahead, so I wanted to share a bit of what’s been going on.

What’s Happening?

Westmont Pro Swim

I recently competed at the Westmont Pro Swim Series, where I raced the 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke. I came away with season bests in both the 100 and 200, along with second-place finishes in both events. This is a great sign that things are moving in the right direction. While it's still early in the season, I’m starting to see the work I’ve been putting in on the details of my race show up, which is exactly what I want at this point in the year.

Colorado Training Center

Following Westmont, I went out to Colorado Springs and stayed at the U.S. Olympic Training Center to train with other USA Swimming National Team members. Training at altitude always brings a different kind of challenge to working out. The thinner air makes every workout much more taxing but offers a great opportunity to build fitness and push training limits. It was great being surrounded by some of the best swimmers in the country all working towards a similar goal. It helped create a great environment that really elevated everyone that was there. Going out to the Training Center not only helped me physically but also mentally! Getting out of my normal routine, competing in that kind of environment, and continuing to stack quality work is something I’ll be able to carry forward into the rest of the season. Outside of the pool, I also had the opportunity to make it up to the top of Pikes Peak, which was an unreal experience and a nice break from training.

Clinics

I had the chance to run a clinic in Bloomington, Illinois, which was an awesome experience. The group was super engaged, asked great questions, and brought a ton of energy. Getting to share what I’ve learned over the years and connect with younger swimmers is something I always enjoy, and this one was especially rewarding.

I also took part in the first Beyond the Blocks event in Columbus, Ohio. It was a really cool experience being involved in something that goes beyond just racing. An event which focuses on connecting, learning, and growing the sport in a different way.

Looking Ahead

Next up, I’ll be heading to the Sacramento Pro Swim as I continue building toward the rest of the season. Thanks to everyone for all of the support! It means a lot to have people following along and being a part of the journey!
